Devices Vodafone is betting big on low cost devices – They have launched a mobile phone at Rs. 700 after all. While Nokia spoke of plans to launch mobile phones at Rs. 500, nothing really got shown off at the MWC. I heard Vodafone is the market leader of low cost handsets (yes, in handsets) in a few rural circles in India. Applications/Services Another social network , but mainly about your contacts from phonebook & sharing stuff with them has started services . The question is not about the utility of these but on how they will monetize. Vodafone has introduced ‘chota magazine’ to its subscribers – You get magazines / articles formatted for mobile screens – no info about the list of magazines available. Interestingly it was Bharti who were talking about this at MWC. Meanwhile, media companies are introducing QR codes to enable readers to access multimedia content. Comviva seems to be building up its mobile banking platform , in partnership with another company. They have also built a gaming platform . Nokia is trying its luck with one more service for India – Money ! Operators
